Phase: 2 Outside Prison Ministry

Safe Housing and Successful Transition to Independent Living

The Discipleship Program continues as inmates exit prison. ASM supplies safe housing at the Discipleship Training Centers for both men and women as they begin a 9-to-12-month transition into society. The ex-felon, now considered a programmer, continues to receive weekly one-on-one spiritual and holistic mentoring. They attend weekly Discipleship Groups, Celebration Recovery, Life Skill training, and church services.

The Life Skills part includes counseling, cognitive development, financial planning, parenting, and vocational aid. They learn the value of positive contributions to the community and involve themselves in a local church. Once the programmers have completed the Discipleship Program and their Aftercare Plan has met approval, they will then be scheduled for graduation,

“The people at Along Side Ministries got me stable. They got me on a regiment of learning how to be free,” says Chris, a graduate of the Discipleship Program. “I have been behind bars for 27 years. I need routine and they are helping me build that. I need to stay connected with the body of Christ and Along Side is a big part of that.”
