Phase:1 Inside Prison Ministry

Discipleship, Mentoring and Preparation for Reentry

“A year before I was released, Along Side Ministries gave me a mentor,” says Chrissy, a graduate of the Discipleship Program. “My mentor came to see me each week in prison where we did Bible study and talked together about me, my past, and what was going on in my life. My mentor is a strong woman of faith and I have learned from her. Today we are still good friends.

Along Side Ministries supplies two core Bible services each week inside area prisons in addition to offering dedicated events and training. The weekly Discipleship Groups are available to all inmates who have permission from the institution to attend. These groups focus on applied Christianity and preparation for successful reentry.

Those who attend the Discipleship Groups may apply for admission into our program. If accepted, they are assigned a trained mature Christian mentor who will walk alongside them through the rest of the program. Inmates tend to face a variety of complex problems and issues which they will address on leaving prison. Together with their mentor, inmates develop a plan for overcoming these problems as well as executing a strategy for their successful return to society.
