A $50 Check No place to go No Family Support No Job
Any wonder why so many don’t make it?
Many Individuals Coming Out of Prison do so With No Support!
Over 1900 inmates are released from Arizona prisons homeless each year. Many are released with the clothes on their back (that seldom fit) a $50 check and a prison ID. They are in desperate need for housing, foo d, clothes, toiletries and many other items. It is hard to find a job with no transportation, driver's license, good clothes or a decent resume`. Even with a strong desire and willing heart, the hurtles are tremendous. Many fail because they can't make it through the critical first few days.
Prison transition Services'(PTS) mission is to meet the ex-offender's immediate needs and assist them at the beginning of their transition back into society. Clothes, food and toiletries are immediately available as well as assistance in getting their identification, social security cards AHCCCS registration and job search. The goal is to provide the necessities for the first 72 hours of the prisoner's release to get them stabilized and in a position to begin a job search.
The PTS Program will also conduct classes in Substance Abuse, Celebrate Recovery, Interview and Resume writing, Anger Management, How to Dress for a job, and Bible Studies at our 35th Ave facilities located at 4650 N 35th Ave., Phoenix.
This service is provided to any ex-offender coming out of prison.
