Collis Huntington, III

Collis, Founder and Executive Director, began his work in prison ministry in 1988 when he became the Arizona/Nevada Area Director for Chuck Colson’s Prison Fellowship. For the next 11 years, the Lord blessed Collis’ work in recruiting volunteers and growing the ministry.
While Prison Fellowship was focusing its national efforts primarily on in-prison programs, Collis became increasingly concerned about the number of Christians returning to prison. Without strong spiritual guidance on the outside, and without a safe place to live, many of these Christian ex-offenders were not prepared to succeed in the free world.
In July of 1999, the Lord specifically led Collis, and his wife, Sherry, to step out in faith and begin a specialized ministry to Christians returning from prison to society. From this step in faith, and with a clear vision from God, Along Side Ministries was born.
From an office in the Huntington home, with no staff, no volunteers and no funds, God raised up a State-wide Christian prison transition ministry. Collis now leads an organization with more than 300 volunteers and a full and part-time staff of 15 dedicated men and women.
Collis has seen many of his prayers answered and dreams come true through God’s work at Along Side Ministries. Collis loves to say; “look to see where God is at work, and join Him there”. God is, indeed, at work with His children coming out of prison.
