MENTORS AT PERRYVILLE WOMEN'S PRISON

MENTORS AT FLORENCE MEN'S PRISON

Mentoring Inside the Prison System - Volunteers come along side inmates for 6 to 12 months. You will be visiting the inmates twice a month as you equip them to build a plan to make a successful transition back to the local community, church and work force. You may also walk along side the inmate for six months after his or her release as they 'live the plan'. You will be providing counsel, encouragement and accountability. Outside of the inmates relationship with Christ, the mentor relationship can have the greatest impact on his or her successful transition into the local community, church and work force.

Mentoring Ex-offenders After Their Release - Some mentors only work inside the prison, and for some prisons we do not have mentors available. Outside mentors will be working with ex-offenders who have 'graduated' from the Building Life God's Way program prior to their release. You will walk along side the ex-offender for six months after his or her release and help them complete the plan developed inside the prison.  You will be providing Christian counsel, encouragement and accountability.

Bible Study/Small Group Leaders Inside the Prison System - You will be leading a Christ centered Bible Study with inmates that have been accepted into the ASM program. You will travel to the prison twice a month and lead a group of men or women who want to live their lives by the Biblical teaching of Christ.

BIBLE STUDY AT
FLORENCE

Jail Outreach - You will be visiting inmates in one of the Maricopa County's 6 jails to share  the good news of Jesus Christ to over 10,000 incarcerated men and women.

Celebrate Recovery Instructors/Assistants - Most of our men and women in prison have had drug and alcohol addictions.  Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a Christian 12 step program that we bring into the prisons every other week.  CR is also taught at the Discipleship Training Center apartments to our men and women to assist them in overcoming these and other addictions.  You will work with instructors as they deliver Christ-based 12 step programs, practical life skills and spiritual growth programs. You will facilitate breakout groups as participants apply the content to their lives.

FINANCIAL FREEDOM TRAINING

Life skills instructors -  Are you gifted with the teaching skills to better equip the ex-offender in his/her transition back into society?  Many of these men and women were incarcerated at a young age or have been incarcerated for long periods of time.  They need help in learning the computer, budgeting, basic finance, cooking, child rearing, cleaning and other life skills.  You can teach inside the prison or at one of the Discipleship Training Center apartments. Instructors are also needed in the Prison Transition Services Program.

Prison Transition Services- Many men and women leave prison with nothing but a small check and the clothes on their back.  They are dropped off at a halfway house or shelter and must fend for themselves.  Prison Transition Services provides basic food, toiletries, short term housing assistance and help in obtaining driver's licenses, medical access and fine remittance.  Volunteers are needed to take the ex-offender to various appointments and offices. All that is needed is a willing heart and a car.

Outreach Associates - You will work with our Program Director to reach out to the Christian community and acquaint them with the need for volunteers to come along side ex-offenders. You will participate in volunteer briefings, follow-up with potential volunteers to answer questions, encourage further involvement and inform them of the status of their application.

Technical Support - You will work with our Operations Director to maintain and expand our information technology infrastructure. Skills needed include network design and management, computer/software development and applications coaching for the Microsoft suite of Office products - Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
