"Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me." - Matt 25:40

“Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?’ When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'  The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'  Matt 25:37-40

What is your statement of faith?

We believe in one God; Creator and Master of the universe.  We believe in the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a life without sin, died an atoning death on the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended to Heaven where He is the only mediator between God and man.

We believe that all people are sinners and fall short of the mark, making them unable to see God’s Kingdom, except by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This justification comes by grace, and that through faith in Christ Jesus alone.

We believe in one holy, universal Church. This Church is called to worship God and witness to others concerning His Son, Jesus Christ, sharing the Good News of the Gospel wherever and whenever possible. We believe part of this ‘sharing’ involves lovingly serving others and ministering to their physical, material, and emotional needs, as well as to their spirits.

We believe the work of the Holy Spirit is both vital and necessary for the individual’s new birth and growth and maturity as a believer in Christ.

We believe Jesus Christ will personally and noticeably return in glory to bring salvation and judgment to completion. We further believe God will fully manifest His Kingdom when He establishes a new heaven and a new earth, in which He will be glorified and exclude all evil, suffering and death.

How do you partner with churches?

Our purpose is to assist the church in forming its own prison ministry. We do this by providing opportunities for members of the church to get involved in programs inside and outside of the prison environment. As we equip the church volunteers to do the ministry, we encourage them to work back into the church to get others involved and help them build the church prison ministry team. How long has Along Side been providing aftercare for ex-offenders?

Along Side has been providing aftercare to ex-offenders since 1999. With the addition of the Discipleship Training Center in January 2004 the ministry now has the ability to provide a Christ-centered living environment for ex-offenders in addition to mentors who come along side ex-offenders to provide accountability, counsel and encouragement.  We added a  women’s facility in May 2007.

What is involved in the Jail Ministry?

Jail volunteers go into the Maricopa County Jails on a weekly basis and talk to whomever desires to listen one on one.  They share the love of Christ with these men and women and assist at weekly church services.  Jail visitation can be done on an individual schedule.  Volunteers must attend Maricopa County jail training, and receive Along Side Ministries volunteer training.

Do you provide any assistance to people who are not in your mentorship program?

Yes, the Prison Transition Services arm of Along Side Ministries is designed to provide short term assistance to anyone coming out of prison.  This can include clothing, toiletries, food, bus passes and emergency short term lodging.  We also provide assistance in resolving fines, driver’s license issues and medical care through AHCCCS.  This minisrty began in April 2008

Where do you receive your support?

Most of our funding comes from individual donors like you.  We also are supported by church missions and local outreach funds as well as a few foundations and small grants.  We are dependent on God’s provisions for our needs.

Are you affiliated with a church?

We are not a part of any church, but are supported by a number of different denominations who support our efforts to reach those in jail or prison.  We are affiliated with the Along Side Community Church which has an outreach to the ex-offender as well as the local community.  Our goal is to have a place of worship where the formerly incarcarated will feel comfortable and welcome.

How can I support Along Side Ministries?

First and foremost we covet your prayers.  Please pray for our staff, volunteers and those we serve as they try to overcome their past and live as Christians in the local community.  We accept donations of money, clothes and household items.  We are also in need of new facilities to expand the number of men and women in our long term aftercare program.  Safe housing is critical to a successful reintegration in to the community. If you wish to assist us please call our main office at (602) 995-9484. or email us at info@asmaz.com

How can I learn more about volunteer opportunities?

Volunteers are the life-blood of the ministry. Opportunities include in-prison mentors, Bible study leaders, jail visitation and technical support. Almost any skill or ability can be used by Christ to help His people. Volunteers must be a member (or active participant) in good standing with a local Christian church and apply through Along Side Ministries.  To learn more about current Volunteer Openings click here.
